2009 Congressional Bank Baseball Classic

On Saturday, May 30, 2009 the 2nd Annual Congressional Bank Baseball Classic was held at Nationals Park. In the first semi-final game, Woodrow Wilson won the DCIAA title over HD Woodson 9-1. In the private school semi-final game, St. Albans defeated Gonzaga  8-1, and in the Championship Game, St. Alban’s edged Wilson 5-4 to win the City Championship for the second year in a row. MVP Honors were collected by Wilson sophmore pitcher Jason Polin and St. Albans senior pitcher Matt Bowman.

The city-wide All-Star Game included players from 18 schools from across the city and ended with the Red Team outscoring the Blue Team 10 - 3.


2009 Congressional Bank Softball Classic

On May 16, 2009 the Inaugural Congressional Bank Softball Classic was held at Guy Mason Park. The Softball Classic was a celebration of high school softball and featured the DCIAA Championship Game: the Wilson Lady Tigers v. the Coolidge Colts. Later in the day a city-wide All-Star Game was held with players from schoolS from across the city. The Classic Championship Game matched DCIAA winner against Georgetown Visitaion with the Lady Tigers edging the Cubs 3-2 in the Classic Championship.

A free skills clinic was held for girls 12 and older and  featured instruction by Amber Jackson and other team members from the Washington Glory Instruction focused on four areas, hitting, pitching, outfield and infield play.


2008 Congressional Bank Baseball Classic

On Saturday, May 31, 2008 the Inaugural Congressional Bank Baseball Classic was held at Nationals Park. In the DCIAA semi-final game, Woodrow Wilson defeated McKinley Tech 13-0. In the private school semi-final game, St. Albans defeated Maret 4-0. In the Championship Game, St. Alban’s defeated Wilson 6-1 to win the City Championship. MVP Honors were collected by Wilson senior Luke Koczela and St. Albans junior pitcher Matt Bowman.

The city-wide All-Star Game included players from 17 schools from across the city and ended with the Blue Team outscoring the Red Team 6 - 3.
